She entered the Local Mena Area Board of Realtors Hall of Fame in 2012. She has also served on a number of committees at the State level.
Sharon certainly credits her success in the Real Estate Business to GOD first and then her family and wonderful husband, Larry, of 58 years and her many friends, clients and customers and especially the repeat business and referrals she has received over the years. In earlier years Sharon taught Sunday School for 25 years and served as secretary and treasurer in her Church. She and her husband are members of the Board Camp Baptist Church which is in the community where they now live.
Sharon has also served her community over the years by being elected Chamber of Commerce President, Lioness Club President for 4 years, served on several school advisory boards, the first Mena Main Street Board and The Make Mena Beautiful Board, the Mena Zoning Board for 11 years and the Mena Board of Adjustments for 12 years.
When the Polk County Hospital was almost forced to close their doors in the early 90's many country hospitals were facing the same situation. Sharon was asked by the Hospital Administrator to head up a board to help save the hospital. He asked her to pick 11 other citizens that she thought would work hard with them on this project. With their help, the community, and many organizations including The Mena Area Board Of Realtors they raised enough money to pay the outstanding bills and went on to raise money to attract new doctors to the area. After the citizens of Mena passed the 1% sales tax and the hospital was operating in the black this same Hospital Foundation Board continued to function and raised money for new hospital equipment and provided several scholarships to anyone who wanted to enter the medical field. Sharon served as president of this board 3 times. This board continues to operate today and serves the hospital and community in an outstanding manner.
Sharon, along with 11 other members, headed up the new Industrial Board, with the blessing of the older board, to entice new companies to locate in Mena and Polk County when its unemployment hit an all time high. They were instrumental in bringing several new jobs to the area. Sharon was very honored to be nominated and appointed as Citizen of the year for the Mena-Polk County Chamber of Commerce in 1993.
Sharon loves to spend time with her husband, her children, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren and many friends and other family.
